Name: Anderson County Prairie Preserve Management Units

Display Field: Unit_Name

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon

Description: Boundaries of management units were determined by visual inspection of the site by Dean Kettle, Bruce Johanning, Vaughn Salisbury, and Galen Pittman during 2004. Aerial photographs were used to verify land use and boundaries. KBS Natural Heritage Staff members (Busby, Delisle, Freeman, and Kindscher) were also consulted in development of the boundaries. Basically the boundaries outlined areas of similar land use in 2004. A shapefile coverage of boundaries was created by Dean Kettle using ArcView by on-screen digitizing with a high-quality image as background (the exact image source is not recalled, but was a commonly available source in the public domain taken in the period 2001-2004). A major modification to the boundaries was made on 17 April 2012 by Jorgina Ross and Dean Kettle. The new (2010) patch-burn-graze units were substituted in for the old grazing units (#1-4). To do this, Ross deleted the boundaries for units #1-4, and then merged in the patch-burn-graze units from and existing file.
